Once again our doubles was a huge success this week. We had 28 players total. There was a three way tie for first with a low score of 56 on holes 1-18. Winners split $68. Second place split $10 and third split $6. The ace pot is now at $45. We will be bumping up the meeting time to 4:30 starting 9/8/10. My hope is that we will be able to play holes 19-36 (the “new” holes in the field will be in play). If you own a practice basket, please bring it with you if you can so we can have baskets in the field. I hope to see all of you next week and in the near future.

Saturday morning was beautiful at our home course – Tyler State Park in Newtown, PA.

Players were arriving and the staff was prepared.  The start time was delayed a little as we hoped more participants would be hurrying to arrive.  But unfortunately, we only had four fearless souls willing to play.

Many, many thanks to John “JB” Birkrem, Joe Mela, Todd Cottrell and Tim Fry for playing the event.  Thanks also to Ali Wilkinson for helping to run the event.  And finally, much gratitude to Rex Hay and Trent Franz for their stroke purchases.  And thanks to Big Dog for ensuring we had the score ports.

The first round pairings were drawn and posted, and stroke purchases were made.  The competitors went out to the course to play and the results of the first round were this:

All participants’ names were re-shuffled and pairings drawn for Round 2.  More stroke purchases were made and the competitors again went out to play.  Here’s how it ended up:

As had happened at the April event, the player perceived as the largest threat was the first to be eliminated.   Sorry, Joe.

So then, the remaining three competitors were sent out together as no one can receive a bye into the semi-final or final rounds.  JB has been smoking hot with two wins, while Todd and Tim each have a loss to their name.  If  JB wins, it’s all over.  If Todd or Tim wins, play will proceed to a Final 4^th Round.  Here’s how Round 3 went:
